Name: Ashley
Meaning: Ash Tree Meadow
Ashley is derived from Old English (Anglo-Saxon) words æsc and lēah (meadow, forest clearing)
Coming up with a brand name is possibly one of the hardest things to starting a business. After a business is established, the last thing you want to do is change the name. Chris and I would go back and forth day after day with different ideas. When I was little, my Nana gave me a framed image with my name and meaning, “By The Ash Tree Meadow”. I had it hung on my wall as a little girl for years. This memory stuck out to me one night and I looked over at Chris and said “What about Ash Tree”, and we both loved it. After days of trying to “look deep” into brand names, this one just felt natural and right.
Coming up with the name was just part of the challenge. Now we had to figure out how we were going to “look”. This is where my graphic design background came into play! The challenge was to create a brand that would mesh with both the photography and videography sides of the business. Choosing neutral colors were key to creating a brand that could reflect either style. Together these shades of grey and brown pair perfectly with each other. When applied to the chosen typefaces, they create a classic and clean look. One of the things I love about the typeface used in the logo is the slight wave in the bar of the “H”. A subtle feature that adds the perfect amount of interest.
